On Friday, February 20th the
students of Lionville Middle School hosted a
fundraiser for Dylan. For nearly a month, the
seventh grade students participated in "PENNY WARS" raising over $1,200! Then, the students decided to host a
student-faculty basketball event where everyone would get the opportunity to
meet Dylan after watching his LIVE appearance on CN8 News. Teachers and
parents baked goodies to sell, and refreshments and flowers were also sold to
benefit DJ's Foundation for Tay-Sachs Disease. They
raised over $3,000 through donations, concessions, flowers and basket raffles.
Your efforts make ours all the more worthwhile, you give
us the courage to carry on our fight for Dylan and the hope and strength we need
to search for a cure in his lifetime!
We all had a wonderful time. We wanted to extend a special
thanks to Dave Weidlich for all of his
hard work and dedication in making the event such a success! Our family
met Dave at the East Side Mario's Fundraiser in November '03 when he came out to
support us, thanks to Karen Guidas, fellow teacher at Lionville (and, also
Dylan's cousin!). Dave, you and your faculty
volunteers went the extra mile for us and we will never forget it!
You truly warmed our
hearts more than words can ever say on Friday! We certainly didn't expect
so many students to willingly stay after school on a Friday night to support a
little boy they've never met before and welcome him into the Lionville Family!
The efforts, support and friendly spirit of the entire student body is truly
commendable, you should be very proud. You will all have a special place
in our hearts as we hope Dylan will in yours. The 20th day of February was
one of Dylan's milestones for sure, you are all heroes in our eyes...THANK
YOU!!!!!
