Dear Family and Friends,

I hope everything is going well for you. Now that it is my Senior year in High School, I am making a strong effort to get myself involved in many of the things that I passed up as a Sophomore and Junior. This year, one of my goals is to spear a fundraiser through my wrestling team at St. Mark’s High School.  The Fundraiser is PINS FOR KIDS, and it is aimed towards both the fight for Leukemia among Children, and also the search for a cure for Tay-Sachs disease. The organizations that we will be supporting are The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and The Dylan James Manning Foundation.

I learned of PINS FOR KIDS at my previous school, Malvern Prep, when our family sponsored a teammate of mine, Nick Salvo during his junior and senior year wrestling seasons. At that time, Nick did the fundraiser as an individual, and we did not solicit as a team.  However, I feel that by introducing this fundraiser to the entire St. Mark’s team as a senior captain, that we can make even a bigger difference in some peoples lives.

So, what I am asking is for you to be my sponsor for the 2005-2006 wrestling season. It works like this: For every pin I get this season, I am asking you to donate a certain dollar amount. Whether it is one dollar or twenty dollars is up to you. To give you an idea of what to expect, last year I led the team in “pins” with twenty-one. So, if you were to commit five dollars a pin, at the end of the season (early March, 2006) when I write you a follow-up letter with my stats, you would write a check for a total of $105 dollars. We will then contribute 50% to each of our causes (ie. $52.50 towards Leukemia and $52.50 towards Tay-Sachs).  If you are able and interested in participating in this cause, please email, phone or write to me with your pledge.

My goal in this fundraiser is not only to raise as much money as possible in helping these organizations, but also to raise awareness. The more we reach out, the more we become aware of what so many other people are going through, and then we can contribute in our own way. I feel that the least I can do is to join in the fight for a cure to these diseases which affect so many young children’s lives and their families.

I would like to wish you the best this Holiday season, and thank you in advance for helping me with this important cause.

Sincerely,

Zachary B. Frederick
