Hi everyone!
We wanted to fill you in on some good news and some upcoming events for the
foundation...
Dylan's Auntie Jen & Uncle Brian gave birth to a healthy 7 lb. 5 oz baby boy
on Monday, November 14! Benjamin Robert Martin arrived just one day shy of
his Uncle Brian's birthday! Dylan and Brady are both proud big cousins and
they can't wait to meet him! Mommy and baby are doing well.
Last Friday, we got to attend a high school football play-off game in
Boiling Springs, PA for a football team who has been extremely supportive of
Dylan and the Foundation! They met with Dylan before the game and had their
picture taken with him. After a tough loss, the Boiling Springs Bubblers
held their heads high and walked away learning a valuable lesson...WINNING
AND LOSING ISN'T EVERYTHING! Life is all about living for the moment and
they gave Dylan that chance...Thanks to Matt Heiser and his staff for
allowing us to introduce our hero to their players! While we were in
Boiling Springs last week, we had the opportunity to meet with the Wivell
family for dinner. The Wivells have become like family to us since the
diagnosis of their daughter Lacie and her recent passing this October.
Lacie has a new website which is very touching, please visit
http://www.geocities.com
We are also proud to announce that beginning this week and for the next four
weeks, DJ's Foundation for Tay-Sachs Disease will be advertised on the
Weather Channel's "Local on the 8's" at least once/hour in Chester, Western
Montgomery and Schuylkill Counties to promote awareness of carrier testing.
We are in the process of creating a public service announcement to include
pictures and stories of Tay-Sachs children for commercial broadcasting. Our
hope is to have it appear on QVC during Christmas morning so we are working
hard to complete that before the deadline.
Our next CANDLE run is this Saturday, Nov 19th. If you have any orders,
please fax them to 610-593-4782 so that we can get them to you before
Christmas! Also, if you are available to volunteer this Sunday at St.
Joseph's Christmas Bazaar, we could use your help between 9am and 2pm.
Lastly, we are anxiously preparing for one of the most memorable events of
Dylan's life...HIS FOURTH BIRTHDAY! We look forward to celebrating with all
of you who have responded to his party as you know what a critical milestone
this is for him. If you are interested in helping out at the event, please
email me at
babydj@djsfoundation.org. We have been busy soliciting local
businesses for dessert and refreshment donations along with Chinese auction
items for our raffle, IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO ASSIST US WITH THIS, PLEASE
CONTACT US!
For anyone who golfed at this year's outing, our golf shirts are here! To
arrange for pick-up or delivery of your shirt, please contact me at
babydj@djsfoundation.org or 610-593-9930.
It also appears that the United Way Campaign is under way corporate wide and
we would like to thank all of you who have decided to contribute to DJ's
Foundation!
Dylan will be appearing on CN8 News next week so we will keep you posted as
to when he will be on tv!
For now, HAVE A WONDERFUL THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY!
